The job market is changing, and for many women, especially women of color, the impact is hitting differently. While national unemployment numbers may sound manageable, the reality underneath tells another story. Black women have historically experienced significantly higher unemployment than the national average, and labor data consistently shows disparities across race and ethnicity in access to stable employment and economic opportunity. Hispanic women also continue to face wage and employment inequities compared with their White counterparts.
And let’s be honest: many of us have felt it personally. We've experienced layoffs, delayed opportunities, closed doors, and the like. We received emails that said, “We went with another candidate.” Or we received silence after interviews and had to manage career pivots we didn’t ask for.
